Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy

***Last Sunday's Homily***

The Third Commandment.
One often overlooked as we turn our attention to keeping the rest of the Commandments Holy...

Last week's Homily served as a reminder of sorts:
We work six days a week, and we work hard.
But come Sunday, let it be a day of rest.
A day of rest for all - the parents, the sisters, the maid, myself!
It should be a day we devote to God.

Father Chua was so right to "lecture" us on how we make all sorts of plans on Sundays - movies, Yum Cha, music classes, arts classes, swimming classes and whatnots... all at the expense of time we should devote to God and the Church!
He spoke of parents who drop their kids off for Catechism, then go off for brekkie before coming back to pick up their kids and going off shopping;
He told of those who may physically be in Church, but mentally, spiritually...? They are at the beach, the shops, the office... anywhere but in Church.

For some reason, i can't stop thinking back on Father Chua's Homily for that week.
Guilt perhaps?
Guilty that i have 24 hours on Sundays, out of which i probably am awake a good half the time, yet there are days i wake up on Sundays and think to myself: maybe i should sleep-in today; skip Mass and go straight out to the shops with the girls...
Thankfully the family is always supportive and we make sure each other attends Service weekly.
Like the sis says, "the least we can do is devote an hour to God at Church every Sunday..."
to which i add, "... and be devoted wholeheartedly!"

No special reason for this entry really...
Just want it to serve as a reminder to myself i guess.

Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy.
Amen.
