Quakes roCk taiWan... and diSrupt mY interNet coNNectiVitY!!!!!

the 7.1 Richter scale quake in Southern Taiwan rocked the Country.... and it has also affected my life today tOOooo!!!

i've been cooped up at home for the past week... going out only to Church & when i HAD to.... i just couldn't bear to see happy faces rd town in prep for Xmas last week... after what had happened at home... :(

i had totally been dependent on the Net... linking me with loved ones and news on the World outside my home as it continues to revolve ard... on & on......

but today??? connectivity to practically everything was affected because of the quakes in Taiwan.... no messaging... no mail.... no daily readings online.....! my mood now is even worst than before.... i hate all that has happened this Summer Hols' back home... 公... the rain... floods.... now the Earthquake......... :(

Thank God i have everyone at home to keep me sane... & 星星 (although because of this whole Internet disrupt thingy i haven't managed to get in touch with him today yet......) >.*

God please don't let the quakes continue... or the floods.... or the death & injuries to so so So many people... :(

24th & 25th december 2006 went by quietly for us this year... no Christmas Tree in the living room... no fairy lights... no carols... no Midnight Mass... no annual 'under-the-Christmas-Tree' family photo-taking session... no parties...
i 'ushered' in Jesus' birthday with the telly for company -- Love, Actually
daddy & mummy didn't say anything... but i know both of them are thinking of their dads'... both of them :(
both passed away during the Christmas season........

we're never going to see you standing outside the house gates, waiting for our Singapore license-plated car turn off the main road into the little village in Mantin...
we're never going to see you stand at the entrance of the house, rolling two mandarin oranges into the house while saying "财源滚滚" !!!
we're never going to get to have your oily deep fried chicken in Mantin during Chinese New Year...
we're never going to have the chance to walk out to the Mantin town centre in the early morning, having used the excuse to go to the wet market, but actually going to have laksa before heading home...
we're never going to have the chance to buy home yummy hawker food for you when you visit us in Singapore...
we're never going to see the different pills you have to take before and after every meal, and 'scolding' you for going to the doctors too often and taking too much medicine...
we're never going to see you suffer pain again......
we're never going to get to see you again..................
we're never going to get to call you again................

Hualien

i experienced my first ever earthquake while at Hualien!!!!!!!!! the 2nd morning we were there... i woke up thinking someone was at the door trying to tear it down or something!!! but turns out it was just an earthquake... a teeny one according to locals... nothing worth getting excited over, but me being from SG and NEVER having had to live through quakes (Thank God!), i was like..."what's happening! what's that! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!" *sheepish*

did all the usual stuff you do at amusement parks... cable car rides, watch dolphin & seals perform, have junk food, buy over-priced souvenirs.... bah!

Taichung

spent a fair bit of time in Taichung

the place looks & feels an awful lot like towns of Malaysia, except all signages are in Chinese characters & everyone speaks Mandarin & 台语 -- Hokkien?
