2007 Session 1 Week 1

Rainy, blue Monday
Went for a run this morning... proof that its been waaaaay too long since my last run? i only managed 5km today. bah!!
Went to stock up on toiletries at Coles just now...
Now i'm just waiting for Jo to get home from class... then we can continue watching My Girl! Heeeee!
But in the meantime, i'm just stoning......... =.=

Oh! But i had a very VERY good weekend!! Starting Friday...

Was in Uni. from noon to 7-ish.
We had the Postgrad Commerce Orientation Experience for the new peeps.
Conducted the Campus Tour with Jean-Michel and Jason. JM's one of the funniest guys in this whole COMPEC / Peer Mentoring Program this session! Always makes me laugh. Actually right from Briefing Day the previous weekend, he has been making me laugh lots!!! One of these days i'll put up a pic of him :)
Met a whole lot of people that day... and some really nice SG peeps!! Genuinely nice! Not those act-act ones who talk with a fake accent / Ang-moh slang... like those people i kept having to put up with last sem. UGH! No no. These are truly nice SG peeps. Oh they speak proper English just as well mind you! But when they find out i'm from SG too, haha! all our Singlish just comes out! Heeee!

Then Saturday...

Doreen, Hotomi, Miho, Jo and myself... we went to the Jenolan Caves :) It's a good 3 hours drive away from our place up to the mountains. The journey back took even longer due to rain! =.= But it was worth it. So nice to get away from the City. And i only spent a total of $40 that day!! That's including transport, entry to the Lucas Cave, a huge burger for lunch, and Korean Spicy Tofu Soup for dinner!!! Oh oh! And Krispy Kreme doughnuts on our way home via Penrith! Haha!

*Update with pictures later...

Sunday?

The Peer Mentor Social Event :) It rained!!! So instead of a BBQ we had kebabs =.= But it was still fun. Cos what mattered was hanging out with good friends! Heeee! I had a great time just talking (yes! talking! for hours and hours!) with Lydia, Rach, Charlotte, Wendy, Heidi..... and then, when we met our mentees, it was non-stop talking all over again! Haha! So reminds me of my 1st sem... thank Gawd for friends like Yenn, Daniel, Adam last sem... and my own mentor then, Athena :) She was the bestest!!! Haha! Speaking of Athena, wonder if she has started work yet! Anyways, my mentees... a couple of really sweet girls! I like! Haha! I sound lesbo bo? >.* More on them when i meet them for coffee later this week....

So there! I had a great last-weekend-of-the-hols' before classes tomorrow. Now time to decide on taking that Svc Mkting or Mgmt Org elective! Bah!!

tO YOU whO giVes uS a bAd naMe......

Jo and i had lunch at the Fish Markets today... :) Yum!

Unfortunately, the whole lot of tourists from a certain Asian country decide to go there at the same time as well......! damn it!

Gawd! We had the worst possible time at the Markets, thanks very much to them! DAMN IT!

While queuing to order/pay for our food, we were pushed left, right, centre.... they try to cut queues... they jostle even with their own people.... they speak to their family/friends who are standing right next to them as if they were across a football field, so blardy loud i felt my ears hurt damn it! When i turned round to stare at the blardy fools they pretend not to notice....

Tamaaaaaade!!! I felt like slapping those freaking eejits left, right, centre!!!!!!! Roarrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outside, we found seats with an elderly couple from further South of NSW. We were just enjoying our food, chatting with them, when some of those tourists started gathering round our table, as well as the one next to ours. Then they started saying to each other (in their own language of cos, but Jo and i understand them, yes we do ><) that the elderly couple looks about done with their lunch.... maybe those 2 Asian girl (Jo and i) will leave very soon too!!! Helloooooooo! Like i know you're waiting for a table... i know the little square table can probably seat 8... and i know with the couple and Jo and i spread across 3 sides of the table right then, we can take 2 of you... but if you wanted the table, couldn't you have had the decency to ASK??? Like a really simple "excuse me? but is this spot here occupied? no? did you mind if i just sat here???" DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're not suppose to stare at people, trying to make them finish their food by SWALLOWING EVERY DAMN THING, then leave so you get the whole table!

So neways, the couple finished their lunch and left. These rude people who had been standing around staring, took the empty seats without asking Jo and i. Bah! About the same time, the table next to ours was vacated and instantly taken up by other members of the group. Then! They left a girl at our table, and another guy at the next table, and the rest of the group headed off inside again to (i presume) get food.

I was observing the guy at the next table... he had all these mineral bottled waters on the table and when other people came up to ask if all the seats were occupied/if they could take 2 seats (1 side of the table), he was like, "no". Bah!

Then, when Jo and i finished our lunch, we were ready to leave when we saw an elderly couple and (i presume) their daughter, pushing a baby pram, waiting for seats near us. Since those rude tourists had only left 1 girl at our table, without asking us anything or making known how many of them wanted our table, PLUS they also had the next table, Jo and i offered our seats to the elderly couple. Then we left. But about 10 steps away, we happened to turn back......... and saw that those people had taken up both the tables!!!! Leaving the couple without seats again!!!!!!!!!!!! And just when we had specifically given up our seats to them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tamaaaaaaaaaaade!!! Those rude, incorrigible, disgusting people! They who give us a bad name!!!!!!!!! Damn damn DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!! ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

*boiling mad again when i think back on this afternn*

On a totally separate note, i broke down in Church today during Ash Wed service.... twice actually *sigh*

The 1st time being that i saw an old man who looked very much like 公公.... the same fair skin... greying hair... the lines and wrinkles on his face when he smiles.... the smiley eyes.. he smiled at me in Church and i just felt my eyes watering up instantly.... i had to turn away quickly before he could see me cry :(

The 2nd time was when i saw the huge family 3 pews in front of me, hugging and kissing each other after the Lord's Prayer. Although i see such exchanges so often in Church, it just hit me harder today.... perhaps it was just that i was already feeling sad after seeing the old man... i just couldn't help the tears welling up... and before i knew it, i was crying.......:(

I miss everyone at home........

I'm just not in the best mood right now.....

=.=

i hate it when i have dreams throughout the night... i wakeup feeling like i haven't slept enough at all!!!

*backaches from all the tossing and turning... very grumpy mood*

meNtOr ... GoddeSs of wiSdom... wAAAaah!

Mentor was the trusted counsellor of Odysseus. Before Odysseus set sail for the Trojan War he made Mentor guardian to his son Telemachus. Mentor was friend, advisor and teacher to Telemachus, helping him grow into a noble hearted, clear thinking prince.

Mentor also advised Penelope, Odysseus' wife. With Odysseus gone twenty years, many men tried to woo Penelope and take over the kingdom of Ithaca. It was Mentor who came up with the plan - Penelope insisted to her suitors that she must first weave a sacred cloth for Artemis, goddess of the moon, and only once she had completed her task could she choose among them. But every night, once they had fallen into a drunken sleep, she would unravel what she had woven that day.

Mentor also helped Odysseus reclaim his kingdom when he returned from the war.

How did Mentor know what to do and what to advise? Mentor was Athene, goddess of wisdom, in disguise.

lOve of EneMies...

loved today's Homily on reconciliation and forgiveness...
Fr. O'Brien shared experiences of his own in forgiveness...
and love...

very inspired...
touched...

how great the power of God's Love...
how great is Our Father!

But i say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father
Matt 5:44-45

it was indeed a good way to start the 'Lunar New Year'...
although i attended today's Mass alone, (physically) far away from my dearest people, i felt comforted... loved... knowing God is watching over me.. watching over my loved-ones... guiding us in all we do....
also the fact that today's Gospel from Luke touched again on loving our enemies...
it makes me feel much comforted that we are doing what God would have wanted us to do... even when we know we are being cheated and made used of....
at least we are trying our bestest...
to continue to love and pray for those who hurt us....

haPpi cNy

well.... there you have it! the closest i can get to feeling the CNY mood here i guess -- wearing a cheena top on 年初一 >.*

where can i get really really really nice yummy CNY-ish food here huh? =P

...

sometimes i really wonder if it was wrong of me to come...
am i being very selfish to want to study so much?
so long?
and so far away from home?
i had a stable job... my own income... family & friends around me...
no rent to pay... no tuition fees to worry about...
i could go out to the office every morning, return home in the evening to home-cooked hot dinner...
i could potter around the house on weekends slacking away...
i should be helping out mum at home with the housework, the washing, the groceries and what-nots...
i should be helping bring Claire to childcare before work and picking her up when jie can't make it...
i should (and would!) gladly babysit the kids and do my part to keep them company when i have to and take care of them when one of them falls ill...
whatever it is, i should be helping around at home.... should i not?

instead, all i can do now is listen to Claire cry over the phone when she's sick and needs attention...... :(

am i selfish for wanting to come so far away from home to finish this Postgrad program?
