Sarawakian Hospitality

is that the right term? Sarawakian?
anyways.

the people are are sOOoooo friendly.
like, SUPER friendly.
from the taxi driver who drove me from the airport to Grand Margherita.
the people at Reception, Concierge and the Coffee House.
the locals at the souvenir shops and bakeries where i got local Sarawak Lapis to bring home for the kids.
the other taxi drivers......
all very, VERY friendly!!!

i was so very pleasantly surprised at how none of the sales people at the souvenir shops 'bothered' me when i stepped into their shops.
you know how if you went to... i don't know, say souvenir places at Cameron Highlands or Phuket etc, all these salespeeps come round like, WOAH!!! they surround you so damn quickly you don't stand a chance of shopping in peace -________-
but here! my, my, my! i could browse to my hearts' content. no one came round trying to introduce this and that to me every time i moved two steps =P they only came when i called to them. and they were full of smiles each time i turned round.
such nice people =)

oh, and i have to tell you!
i was at the mall (The Spring, i think it's called...) when it rained like, really heavily.
and their taxi queues aren't in the compounds of the mall, i.e. not the sheltered dropoff/ pickup area. taxis wait along the main road.
so it was raining.
and i was stuck at the entrance of the mall praying it wouldn't take tOOooooo long before the rain stopped, when this kind taxi driver saw me from where all the taxis were parked along the main road, and came over with a huge brolly.
and more amazingly, he wasn't sheltering me to HIS cab.
he said they have to "follow queue" so he was helping to shelter me to the first cab!
HOW SUPER NICE right?!

their friendliness is amazing =)
how come those on the other side of the Country not like that huh?

Torn...

Between sticking with my Blackberry versus getting back to a Samsung.

My current BB9000 works fine.

Sure, the battery seems to be getting a bit too-hot too-fast, the photo quality comes out quite shitty, and you can't compare it with the iPhone for Apps and whatnots.

But it serves me well.

My calls come through, my texts come through, my mails come through too.

I don't need the 101 Apps that iPhone-users rave about cos i hardly use 'em.

However, my contract with M1 ends soon. And i've got a S$200 voucher from them that can be used to offset my next handset.

Which is why i'm looking around now.

That, and plus the fact i'm shopping around for a mobile for Hubs.

Hubs' mobile is ancient!!! It's a dinosaur! No kidding. It's one of those Sony-Ericsson ones from like... 10 years ago! In my opinion, it's like, the least user-friendly mobiles ever! On the rare few (VERY few) occasions i've had to use his mobile, it took me foreva (!!) trying to get it to move! Then i gave up. Wtf.

So, i've been looking :)

I could go back to a BB (BB Torch 9800) i guess...
Or there's the Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) which is also very pretty!

There's a cheaper alternative too. The Samsung Galaxy S (i9003).
Looks like iPhone leh...... ah well.

Anyways, so... i don't know. Choices, choices.
A 'lil help anyone??
Have you seen this today? So very kawaii !!!

The people at Google are brilliant :)

www.kindofwonderful.sg

*note: i am NOT paid for the below contents.

i stumbled upon www.kindofwonderful.sg earlier this year and have been absolutely in lurrrrve with their dresses.
they have some of prettiest around. seriously!
just go take a look at their website :)
the site's easy enough to navigate.
the colours are oh-so-pleasing to the eye.
plus, there's something about a pretty + healthy-looking model that makes me want to have what they are wearing =P
there's nothing attractive about a skinny, anorexic-looking person wearing pretty clothes. i get very, VERY turned-off. and i can think of a couple of online shopping sites with images like that. needless to say i've not brought anything from them.
but i digress.

so.
www.kindofwonderful.sg

i ordered 3 dresses from Cin late Feb.
the Topshop Inspired Pleat Dress (which i gave Yuan) was a beautiful cobalt blue.
lovely! and it fits Yuan like it was made for her :)
*beams proudly 'cos i picked it out for her. ha!
the One Shoulder Drape Asymmetrical Black Dress is now one of my staples.
i play around with different accessories to go with it each time i wear it.
the To The Side Dress in Peach Pink however, wasn't up to my expectation. i had thought Peach Pink meant something along the lines of PEACH + PINK.
when it turned out to be almost NUDE, i emailed Cin to clarify.
Cin was brilliant!
her emails back to me were prompt... her tone friendly and understanding...
and although a part of me felt it was my mistake - i should have checked before buying... she probably wasn't going to entertain me (i thought)... i was wrong!!
Cin wasn't the least bit hesitant in saying she'll check if she had other colours in-stock so we could arrange for a change.
and then, because i was traveling so freaking heavily between Mar and May, i forgot all about this!
until early Jun.
the dress was still hanging in the wardrobe - new, not yet washed or worn.
i emailed Cin again, who confirmed she could do a swap with me (the Peach Pink for a Navy one) and within the week, i received the To The Side Dress in NAVY :)
so efficient!
i had it sent off to her on a Monday, and received the new dress the following Monday!
thank you so much Cin!
loving the dress :)
i worn it on a flight today and after having sat on the plane for hours, the dress still looked brilliant when i got off.
and it is sOOooo comfy!

i can't find vain-potty pictures of me in the other dresses, but here's me, having one of my hiao moments, in the Navy dress after the flight and having checked-in at Grand Margherita Hotel.

now, excuse me while i go pick out some more pretty lil' things from www.kindofwonderful.sg

Wedding-Related: Music 3

i should be sleeping.
i'll have to be up in a few more hours to catch that morning flight.
instead, here i am.
Youtube-ing.
Google-ing the Lyrics.
Re-playing, re-watching, re-listening to this beautiful, beautiful song.
Can't seem to find who originally wrote/sang this.

Thank you Lord (for the Trials that Come My Way)

Thank you, Lord,
for the trials that come my way.
In that way I can grow each day
as I let you lead,
And thank you, Lord,
for the patience those trials bring.
In that process of growing,
I can learn to care.

But it goes against the way
I am to put my human nature down
and let the Spirit take control of all I do.

'Cause when those trials come,
my human nature shouts the thing to do;
and God's soft prompting
can be easily ignored.

I thank you, Lord,
with each trial I feel inside,
that you're there to help,
lead and guide me away from wrong.
'Cause you promised, Lord,
that with every testing,
that your way of escaping is easier to bear.

But it goes against the way
I am to put my human nature down
and let the Spirit take control of all I do.

'Cause when those trials come,
my human nature shouts the thing to do;
and God's soft prompting
can be easily ignored.

I thank you, Lord,
for the victory that growing brings.
In surrender of everything
life is so worth while.
And I thank you, Lord,
that when everything's put in place,
out in front I can see your face,
and it's there you belong.

*Wonders if this can be used for the Church Wedding Mass......

Absolutely beautiful.
Wants to cry just listening to it.

Wedding-Related: Music 2

ha!
this is totally NOT meant for weddings.
just listen to the lyrics!
"I know i can't take one more step towards you
Cause all that's waiting is regret.
And don't you know i'm not your ghost anymore
You lost the love i loved the most"

but i can't get this out of my head!!!
so i'm just posting it anyway.

Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri

i love the hauntingly beautiful music.
and although the MV seems to have no heads nor tails (or maybe it's just me.) i love the dancers movements.
beautiful.
seriously.

anyways...... random max!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.
(lovely card from eMay)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
nothing fancy happening for me.
nothing big going on.
i'm just very thankful to be able to be home on this day mama (yes, and papa too) brought me to this World.
HOME, just for today.
am in-between trips - the Harbin one last weekend, and the Kuching one from tomorrow.
very tired from the extremely long day of flying from yesterday morning.
am only half unpacked yet will have to pack for tomorrow's trip in abit.
was suppose to meet eLin but oh well, things don't always go as planned do they? we have to reschedule.
but still, we managed to get in a long, desperately needed catchup o'ver the phone this morning.
i did a 5km earlier today.
went to Charlotte & Ivy for a little TLC for the scalp & hair.
i'm happy.
'enuff.
if i may be very honest, this really wasn't the way i had hoped to spend this day.
the Hubs and me, we talked about it a few weeks ago, and we had planned to spend a morning cycling at East Coast, then hanging out in the area just enjoying each others' company till late arvo, when we would have a beer (or two. or three. hee!) and mussels at Brussels Sprouts.
had been really looking forward to it.
but then he got called to go away for work.
and so......
*sighs so loud you can probably hear it a mile away. ha.
ah well.
for now i guess it's enough to know he misses me as much as i miss him.
and that however much my disappointment in him not being around today is rivalled by his disappointment in not being able to be here too.
such is life.
Part 6 --- Morning Walk at Cheonggyecheon Stream
We decided to make the best of that glorious weather we had and went for a walk that last morning in Seoul, at Cheonggyecheon, before we had to check-out and head for Incheon (airport).
Us. Trying to get a piece of the Berlin Wall. Haha!
Us
♥♥♥
Minus Us. So you can see the 'complete' picture =P
OMG. Who is that with the horrible hair? *faintz
Signs of Spring!!
It was a lovely way to spend our last morning in the City. I've always loved strolling along the Stream in the evenings just when the sun's about to set. That was a first - a morning stroll along the Stream.
Very nice way to "wrap-up" the trip i think =)
Oh. Just me. Again. Hee!
End.
Wedding-Related: CEE
May 13 - 15, 2011
M.E. House, Punggol.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a brilliant weekend spent together.
Initially "forced" to go because this is required of us before our Pre-Nup' Interview, before our Wedding in a Catholic Church, it turned out to be a much needed time away for us =)
How strange that we were there with 29 other couples, yet we felt like we were the only two people around.
Every dialogue session...
Every bit of sharing...
Every prayer said together...
It was all about US.
The two of us and our journey of love.
To building a happy marriage and family.
Our presenting couples that weekend were full of love, not just with each other, but to us as well.
Truly appreciate their being so trusting and open with us.
And i'm ever thankful to my darling.
For saying 'Yes' to attending EE with me in preparation of our Wedding in Church.
For joining me in prayer and worship.
For just being there!
Truly thankful.
Much love.

Silly Old Bear ^^

Came across this while surfing today.
Yay-ness!!!
Pooh, Piglet & Eeyore were are (still are!!!) some of my fav. "cartoon" characters!

*cue music.
"Winnie the Pooh.
Winnie the Pooh.
Tubby little chubby all stuffed with fluff."
=)))
Heeheeheee.
Must go see when it hits our cinemas here. MUST GO SEEEEEEEEEEE!
