rain, rain, go away......

the mad, insane, erratic weather makes it almost impossible to make plans to go swimming these days :(
ok so maybe it's not mad mad, but still!!!
five minutes ago it was all sunny and nice.
beautiful weather to go do a few laps in the pool.
i decide to go swim and then what happens?!
it RAINS!!!

PHUKET - of Patong, massages and all things Thai

so i figured i might as well get all the Phuket entries out of the way...

before Bintan and Bali next month!!!

YAY!!!

anyways...

Patong.

I is no likes Patong.
So crowded!
So luan!
So...... aiya! It's another tourist-trap kind of place lah.
Wo bu xi huan.
End of story =P

i hated how the locals there try to make money from EVERY BLARDY THING!!! trying to grab a ride to the next town? have to bargain like siao!!! wtf. if your "tuk-tuks" so blardy fab' with stereo and air-con and wtf all the good things that make a ride damn comfy, then i'll pay more lah! your lao-pok "tuk-tuk"...?! just another means of transport lorrr! wtf. charge so much.

so on the last day of our super short trip in Phuket, we checked out of the Hotel (which we were plain unhappy with *reminder: Hotel with potential but fail, fail, FAILED. duh!) at noon.

we refused to pay ridiculous amounts for a ride to Patong so we walked quite a bit to another "taxi stand".

~Us. Just walking along... in that freaking hot weather!!! ~

~ Finally gets onto a super big, comfy minivan-of-a-taxi. YAY!!! Aircon! ~

We would have had to pay THE SAME AMOUNT for a crappy "tuk-tuk" hooookays? ridiculous or not huh? wtf.

We spent whatever time we had left that day in Patong.

We went for super cheap, super shiok full body massages...

We had yummy Thai food (in a food court ok?! FOOD COURT?! please tell me where in SG you find authentic Thai food IN A FOOD COURT?!?!?!)...

The girls made some last min purchases... i was a good girl. i did not shop (much) during our trip. heehee. but only bcos i had spent heaps in Seoul the month before =PPP

PHUKET - Phi Phi Island!!

YF, WL and i went to Phi Phi Island for a day.
Very the rush ah!!

Think we were picked up from the Hotel a little after 8am......

and didn't return till 5-ish.

~ Us =) On the way to the Pier to catch our Speed Boat ~

The ride by Speed Boat to our first stop - Maya Bay @ Phi Phi Leh, took about an hour.

The ride was fun max!!! But i got the biggest, ugliest bruises evaaaaa!!! Cos as the boat cut through the waves, i flew up and bounced right along on my seat. You know what i mean? Aiya... it was hilarious really...... but damn i had to live with those bruises for a few weeks after that o.O

Now we all know Maya Bay rrrrrright?

That place made famous by The Beach (starring the yummylicious Leo' Dicaprio)

It's a small-ish place.

We didn't get off the Beach there.

The waters were absolutely beautiful!

From the Boat, we could see right down the waters at the corals and fishes.

We were extremely tired after that Daytrip. Funny though... we didn't really do much! Yea, we swam a little... went snorkelling... saw some monkeys... got LOTSSSSS of sun (ugh!! i am shades darker after the trip. horrorsss!!!)... think the ride on the Speed Boat tired us out lah. hahhhahah! I think we all slept soundly that night. I know I did =)

Chewy Cream Cheese Cookies

Made these lovelies earlier this afternoon.

And buttery too!!! YUMS!

A tad bit too sweet for my liking though the parents think it'll go very well with a cup of tea.

Ting just ate. And ate. And ate =P

Think i'm going to half the butter and sugar next time i bake these.

Will definitely make these again.

It's sOOoooo simple!

Chewy Cream Cheese Cookies

- Cream 125g butter and 75g cream cheese

- Add to butter + cheese mix:

~ 100g caster sugar

~ 150g plain flour

~ 2 handfuls of chopped nuts (i used pistachio today cos we had 'em at home)

- Bake at 210°C for 12mins.

**LINDY, hurry go make a batch with this recipe too! Very nice!!

I went to the shops this morning and lugged home random stuff that was "calling out to me" from the aisles @ NTUC... among them, cream cheese (!), egglants (!), Prego mushroom pasta sauce (!), mee sua(!)...... random or not? -_-
Anyways, reckon i should put 'em to good use and make some cream cheese cookies and make dinner this evening for the parents when they come back.
Off to melt the butter and cheese now...... laters!!

yesterday's Homily dealth with Marriage and Family.

both are very important to me.

Fr. talked about how young couples get together now, and all they want is to Have Fun.

they live each day together enjoying life... fine dining... holidays... sex... all things that are their ideas of Fun.

they think of making lots of money, getting rich...

they worry about their investments and their many Cs...

they work, work, work somemore...

they get married one day, talk of divorce the next.

or at the first sign of hardships that might be coming...

i personally know of so many friends who come from broken families.

thankfully most of these friends aren't bad peeps.

bad like, you know, some of those scums of society we see out there...

but there must be those less lucky ones...

those that end up living most of their time on the streets. bumming around. turning to drugs and whatnots.

oh oh oh! those that look at their parents broken marriage and grow up to become just like them.

the vicious cycle repeats itself.

wtf.

how is it that people can treat their marriages that way? their families... do the people who make up their family unit not matter? or maybe i should ask, are the members of their family units not dear and important enough to them, for a married couple to want to work on and work out whatever issues the Devil is throwing at them, to break up their marriage?

i'm a mess with this entry.

just need to get this out of my system.

am very, very disturbed by how people take marriage and having a happy, healthy family so lightly!

really REALLY pray for God's guidance towards working on and keeping my relationships with my loved ones.

am fully aware it is not, and will not be easy.

but i trust in the Lord to watch over Us and pray for Him to shine His Light and lead the way for Us to build and keep a healthy, happy relationship.

Praying now that his work trip goes smoothly and he comes home safely soon.

Funny how it's Friday night and i'm home alone but i'm perfectly fine with it.

But i'm definitely more comfortable with the fact that i'm home on a Friday night while the gfs are out (those with bfs are probably out dating... the single ones are probably off drinking the night away. heehee!) than i've ever been.

Sure i miss them. ALOT in fact.

Sure a teeny weeny part of me wished i was at the pubs with them having a beer too.

Just this morning Jerm was asking if i wanted to go to St. James.

And the sister is... well i'm not entirely sure what she's up to tonight but she ain't coming home early that's for sure :p

That's what I told the sister it feels like:- having to wait for the boy to arrive in sg. waiting for him to confirm if he can get the evening off and come out for dinner. dropping everything else on hand to go meet him. even if only for a few hours.
But!!
I do this willingly :)
The time we get to spend together is so so precious to me.
To be able to just, hangout, for an evening together... I'm happy.
He flew into town this afternoon. The ship is leaving SG early tomorrow morning.
He wasn't planning to come out until we talked at 6 in the evening. Made our plans for the evening 'chop-chop', and I was off to meet him at 8. I was half skipping as I made my way to the train station to meet him :) I was THAT happy :)
We didn't go anywhere fancy. Or do anything much.
Dinner was at the foodcourt. We went in search of bbt after that. And then we just made ourselves comfortable at one of those sofas in esplanade and chatted the rest of our evening together till it was time to go home.
Simple, yes. Fuss-free, yes. Happy, contented, yes yes yes!
I knew what I was "signing up for" when we decided to get together a year ago.
The distance, the "being apart for weeks on end", the huge phone bills, rare occasional dates etc...
But I love the Boy.
So I'm just gonna keep being 'on standby' till we work out where to settle down together for good.
Till then, constant prayer, faith, love and trust.

PHUKET - the Hotel

this is where we stayed.

Phuket Island View Hotel @ Karon.

It wasn't half bad really... in my opinion it had all the makings of a fab' holiday resort...

- Huge, spacious Hotel grounds

- Standard rooms which make for cheap, comfy accommodation (comes with pretty lil things all around the Hotel room and grounds too)

- Plenty of pools with cool water features

- Fab' location right across from Karon Beach (woohooo!!)
- Decent buffet spread for brekkie
- Near the shops yet not right smack in the middle of town where you'll be caught in traffic, crowds, noise and booze

..................
But i am sOOOoooooo not going to stay with them again.
EVER!!!
The service was just B.A.D. Bad! The staff at the Front Desk were rude... the ones in Housekeeping were too!
YF made bookings for a twin-sharing room for 3 pax but at the point of check-in, they accused us of trying to trick them and made us pay for an additional bed. We didn't need one (cos we were comfortable sleeping on a Queen together) but they practically insisted! We had to pay an additional 70sgd per night wtf.
So after we agreed to pay, they had their Housekeeping come round with the additional bed which they set up with awfully grouchy-looking faces. wtf! We were paying for the Goddamn Roll-away Bed ok?!
And and and, the stupid woman changing linens and amenities refused to give us extra towels! Hellooooooooo you blardy eejit! We're paying for 3 so when no towels for 3?! wtf.wtf.wtf!!!
The pool. Sigh :( Huge, yea. Lounge chairs, check. Cool water features, check. But the water was blardy DIRTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf. cloudy max. yucks yucks yucks! And we saw soiled diapers by the pool! Eeeeeuwww! Oh and ciggie butts all ard wtf.
So...
Yup.
I am so NOT going back there.

it was a pretty good work trip, this last one to KL.
the kids were cool (well MOST of them), the lecturers were fun people (YAY!) and i got to spend time with the BF :)
didn't really spend hours after hours shopping, but i managed to get some pretty decent stuff!!!
all thanks to the dear Boy who willingly (hmmm... or maybe he had no choice lah. wahahahahhaha!) drove me places to get to BACI (Bangsar) and MIEU (DESA SRI HARTAMAS) lovelies.
i is happy with my new dresses *silly grin
oh oh oh!!! and my new shoesssss.
LOVES!!!
i hope the BF likes his new bag and shoes too.

We haven't had one of those for awhile...
The last 3 4 months have been crazy for the sis and I...
Taking turns to trvl, work ridiculous hrs, stress like mad over anything and everything...
But tonight, we made a date.
For beer and chips with the parents.
At home :)
And with the baby sister just turned 18, she could officially drink with us.

home again on a mid-week Wed.

have been having the worst headaches the past few days.

i persisted and hung around for work till 5 yesterday evening before i told the boss i really couldn't take it anymore, and left for home.

probably slept my longest in MONTHS last night.

it's the weather i tell you :( the heat + humidity is near unbearable for me.

i thought i was gonna die in the train on the way home yesterday. it was packed so bad and these stupid peeps were still pushing their way onto the trains despite the SMRT staff yelling at them to "stop pushing! wait for the next train." wtf. i hate public transport.

he's in town for work this week.

came by the office Mon evening.

caught me by surprise. wasn't expecting him so soon.

but it was a very much welcomed and delightful surprise ^^

i was packed and ready to leave the office in less than 10min after seeing him on campus :) how often do you see me get ready to leave the workplace that early and that quick huh?! haha!

anyways, i'm glad he's around.

we still don't get to see each other as much as most couples do when they are dating, but just having him in the same country and knowing we have a night or two together each week, and a weekend or two a month together, sure beats having to be apart for months on end.

*reminds self: must always BE THANKFUL!
